Would i beat a Lightning?

A couple of days ago I was cruising in a nearby town when i pulled up next to a lightning at the stop light. It was red, and im guessing 99-00 year. I turned off the traction control, because he had revved it at me, and i thought he wanted to go. so i launched in first and went to shift when i looked BACK at him and he wasnt going. so i shifted slow to second and then guess what? The idiot comes flying by, so i floor it in second (should have shifted down but wasnt thinking) and my car bogs a little bit then i start to catch up a little bit but not much. I was wondering what would happen in an actual quarter mile. I have the almighty LS1 ! LOL! Had to put that in. I have the six speed too, and yes i can drive well. Just got some new pirrelli's, and the traction is way better than before. So what do you guys think?

If i lost to a ford pickup, i dont know what i would do!

unfortunately most people that run their lightnings at least have pulley and are making wicked power....

12's arent too hard for them.. Never worry about who and what you lose to.. you will never be the fastest.. but you can be quick or consistant.. so look to the brighter side when you lose a race.

I raced a new stock lightning last fall when the track was still open.

We ran 4 times and each time he ran 13.5 - 13.6

I've seen stock lightning's run mid to low 14's at the track. I've never seen a Lightning run quicker then mid 13's though. You should have no problem beating one.

I've seen a few Lightnings run 12s at the track, but that's with MT slicks! They all have slicks at the track, not gonna happen on the street though.

I saw a Lightning ('00 or so) run a consistent 12.3 to 12.5 in Memphis. He ran againist another Lightning a few times and spanked the other guy everytime. The other guy however was running low 13s.

Even if you can't win, atleast your car looks faster and better and gets better mileage,.

The last time I went to the track I got spanked by a lightning on street tires. He ran a 12.2 I think but he whistled right by me (definately wasn't stock). I had him out of the hole but just before the 1000' mark he cruised right on by.

Most people that spend that kind of money on a pickup are power freaks and are gonna spend more on mods after they get it. Take your chances, but don't be afraid to loose.

You don't identify which transmission you have. You might want to add that to your signature..just a suggestion.

Did you run a 13.2@107? You shouldn't have too much of a problem with a stock Lightning. The trick is to get out of the hole without falling behind. With 2.1-2.2 60fts (which are more common than you think), Lightnings run 13.9-14.2 @ 99 mph around here (~1300 ft elevation). M6 LS1s runs 13.4-13.9 @ 105 mph..an LS1 can pull a Lightning from a roll pretty good..but if they get you good off the line, it can take an entire 1/4 mile to pass them. The way you describe it, the Lightning you raced essentially Pearl Harbor'd you..when he already had a pull on you (he came flying by), it is very difficult to stop that and reverse it. The difference between the vehicles isn't THAT much. You'll only pull on him if you both start at the same time.

Hard to tell if you would of won or lost, definitely depends whether he was stock or not. It doesn't take a whole lot of money to get those trucks deep into the 12's
