Wooo About to get a 1998 z28
well i gave in. used to have a 92 mr2 turbo then went to a bmw then to a 97 gsx and now i gave in to the big V8. hehe.. i'm getting my hands on a 1998 z28 with 55k mi for only 12k. this a good deal? i can also purchase a 3-6 year warranty so i'm set. it already has a couple mods such as flowmasters exhaust, intake, and chip. Anyway i'm new to this v8 stuff so if anyone can give me some general modding tips or what goes wrong normall with these cars it'd be helpful. i'm planning on adding a 75-100 shot Nitrous, which i;ve been told by local shops is safe? anyway just saying hi.

congrats, sweet car and that is a good deal, the car is a little older but it's only got 55k miles and it's still an LS1 with mods so its defintly a good deal. I wouldn't start modding right away, just take 3 months or more to get used to the car. That is a very fast car to start with anyway, these cars do around 13.0 sec quarters stock so there should be no hurry to mod it. If you get your warrenty and then get Nitrous, you'll be throwing your warrenty away so you got to go one way or the other. I would just put intake and exhaust mods on and get the warrenty.
Congrats! You'll wonder why you didn't do this earlier. It's a whole new level.
What transmission does the car have?
Don't worry about that warranty. By the time you really need it, it won't apply because you'll have mods...especially if you start spraying.
And remember, with spray, you have 8 cylinders to work with. A 100hp shot on one of these cars is no problem. Hell, up it to 125. But you won't need nitrous to run 12s or even 11s. You can run mid-low 12s easy with a complement of bolt-ons..pop a cam in (stock heads) and run 11s.
PS: A '98 is still a pretty damn new car. 12K for an LS1 is great. Used LS1s are the best deal going for performance these days.
