Who would be the one to tell you you voided your warranty?

Would it be the intake person who writes down your complaint, or is it the mechanic who "rats" you out by telling the powers that be that the car is no longer stock?
I am obviously looking for a way to have my cake and eat it too my making mods and still attempting to have them pick up the tab on expensive items that break.

From: looking for a flow bench so Brook and I can race
they passed a law that says they have to prove the mod caused the problem. ie- if you get a blower and then a shock.strut collapses they cant say your warantee is void. PROVE that a blower did that (fat chance )

however- if you do something like bolt on a blower, they could easily prove that it caused your connecting rod to break.

in other words, you dont void your entire warantee, only parts effected by the mod.

The only thing that can void your warranty totally is evidence of altering the odometer. Other than that only mods shown to cause damage will void warranty on affected components. The act that prevents a customer's warranty being voided by aftermarket parts is the Magnuson Moss Act , explained here

It would probably be the service advisor (the guy with the pen) that informs you, but that typically would follow a conversation with the mechanic and probably a manager or GM service rep.

Sometimes theyll even be cool and fix it even if the part caused the malfunction. When I put my K&N FIPK in, I accidently kinked the air hose where I couldnt see it and it caused the O2 Sensor to fry. They fixed it that time but said they wouldnt do it again.
