Question Who here does/did not like their cutout?

I am getting my cutout installed today, had some trouble over the weekend, and I am wondering if there is anyone who was dissapointed with their cutout. I have not seen a question like this before and was just curious. Thanks!

I've had mine now for 3 weeks and its not as loud as I thought. I heard so many people say how loud it is now comparing it to the wide open Borla I had on my SS it seems very close if not a touch quieter. Very very raspy in the tone not very nice to hear. But for $55 installed I really could not go wrong. I have some resonance issues with vibrations but again it was cheap and its effective. I picked up a solid .2 at the track and almost 1 mph in the trap just opening the cutout at the track. Can't really argue with that. I leave it capped usually around town just because of the annoying tone. All in all you get what you pay for its not a cat-back system and I'm being unreasonable to compare it to one. Just my impressions of it. With a Z28 I really needed the hp lost in the exhaust and the cutout was the cheapest and easiest way to get it. 13.33 @104.7 to 13.08 @106.5 with cutout, lid, Holley, FRA, MAF ends isn't too shabby

So, would go as far to say that the cutout gives you a poor sound quality? I won't be driving it around open all the time, but when I do is it going to sound like a v6 with dual exhaust? I understand I got the cutout for the performance gains, but there are already enough ricer sounding camaros around me

I always liked the sound and never left it capped. I have a Mufflex now and I don't think it's loud enough.

I put one on my car about almost 2 months ago. I leave it uncapped, and love the sound.

I had one, but the drone was too much. Loved the sound though. I'm very happy with my LM.

I'm not disappointed with my cutout, the power increase was definitely there, especially after headers. Although after I got headers it's pretty much unbearable to drive around town with it open, so around town I'm stuck running through my Flowmaster.

No it's most certainly a V8 sound. In fact its funny you should say V6 Camaro because just last night on the way home from the movies this ToughGuy with a V6 Camaro kept trying to get me to race. He musta thought the car was stock because I was quietly sitting at a light. All it took was 2-3 revs to 3500 to show him this Z28 may look meek but it does bite. No need to race with a girl in the car besides he got the point. Not a V6 in this Camaro.

As for sound quality I dont think there is much of that its very very raspy and when revving in the garage or other closed area you can hear the raspyness that other people hear when you drive by. I like being loud as much as the other guy but I like good tone too and the cutoutr IMO does not have good tone. Again I hate to compare it to exhaust systems but I have no choice. My friends WS6 with Loudmouth is just as loud but with a LESS raspy tone. My wide open Borla seemed to be louder and even with the annoying popping was less raspy. Now I'm probably getting the same HP gains as either system but for 1/5th to 1/10th the price. Overall I'm happy with the cutout and I'm happy with the reslts but I equate those results to money spent. This is a baragin for $50-150 but over that its worth getting a system.

I actually lost power with my cutout. I had one on my 94 Z28. I had MAC headers and a full MAC exhaust. I put the cutout in the off road pipe so it was not far down stream from the headers.
I dyno'd the car with and without the cap, and actually made 6hp less with it uncapped.
