I too looked into that option the minute I saw a clear lid with a blue holley powershot filter.. Looks very nice.. But so far here is the downfall..

Cracks.. the clear is a more brittle plastic and from what I am told is more prone to cracking.. But that is probably with more than usual removal and installation.. Cause I hardly get to my lid unless I need to test something..

I have heard about it "yellowing" but yet to have anyone confirm this trait. I think many assume that since its clear plastic it has to.. yet there are many plastics that wont.. and the lid is not a part of the car that will see high temps.. It has air constantly flowing through it which will cool it. Many forget that.

I've also heard some quality issues with the clear lids. But who knows. Anyways, MTI sells them.

pyschocabbage, I think you almost have to be right, especially about it potentially turning color. I too have thought about the clear lid but I'm waiting to hear from some one who has put a lot of miles on one.

Jonel, you're car is freaking badass, I checked out the pics on your site. I think a clear lid with the blue filter would complement that car very nicely.

I have a clear MTI lid. No problems cracking or discoloring. I've put about 15,000 miles on the car since i got the lid. The guy I bought the lid from was using it since 1999. The lid still looks perfect.

Sounds like good evidence that the MTI lid will stand up...

A chrome lid? It's amazing the different ways these vendors have to separate you from your hard-earned money- but I'll admit, the chrome lid sounds intriguing. Can't wait to see one bolted on somewhere.

I also have a clear lid. I haven't put too many miles on (about 2,000) but I've removed it alot. No cracking, the fit is perfect with my Holley filter, and there's no yellowing. I use Mother's Plastic Polish just to keep it perty
