When will I need to upgrade injectors???

I am wondering what type/lbs-hr I will need and when. I am about to drop the $$$ for an LS6 intake and I was curious as to what size injectors I will need.

Mods, so far, in sig. 38 or 42 lb/hr?? And what is a good type. If I need the injectors I will do it w/ the intake upgrade. I plan on getting a tune when I have the intake installed. LS1 Edit w/ dyno time. It will be done by a professional, and not by a handheld tuner.

stock injectors should do you fine for now. people argueing on another post about this and average responce was that they can handle 400+rwhp. so if you go with a fi or h/c setup, then yes go with larger like a 42#. when you get them, yes you will need a tune for them. chances are if you put 42's in without a tune, you wont make it past your driveway.

You are way under-modded to be considering injectors...the stockers will do over 400rwhp. You also have to consider lbs versus fuel line pressure. A 30# SVO injector will flow around 36#s at our fuel pressure.

Cool....Thanx for the info update. I never figured they were good to those #'s. After I end up doing a H/C + FI deal (dead set on), how would I figure out what fuel pressure/lb-hr spec's I will need? This is one of the few parts of auto theroy that get's me scratching my head. --exactly how much fuel I need+ some head room.......

Re: When will I need to upgrade injectors???

I don't think you NEED bigger injectors. But, I have read claims stating injector duty cycles should not exceed ~80%. People running 400rwhp on stock injectors have to be well over that 80% in their upper RPMs. I say this because with my mods, the stock 28.8lbers I have are pushing an 82% injector duty cycle according to my EFILive logs. So, it's all in who you ask. Personally, I wouldn't go to a bigger injector on a pure bolt-on car. Beyond that, it's something to consider. Just my $.02.

As for what you'll need, it all depends on your setup. I'm sure you can't go wrong with a 255lph pump and I would guess you're looking somewhere close to 42-48# injectors at a minimum. If that's the route you're dead-set on going, I highly suggest you invest in your own tuning software, a WB02, and start reading now on how to tune these cars. My two months of reading how to do it on various forums was quickly overcome by the intimidation of actually tuning the car now that I have EFILive.

Re: When will I need to upgrade injectors???

Hmmm....Quite interesting.... I DO in all actuallity, have true bolt-on car. I don't plan on going into internals untill I have the title....I'll just leave the injectors for now....

Anyone have a site that I can use for referance to calculate for hp/fuel consumption??? I have been on LS1Tech.com lately also.. Mabie I can check there for fuel consumption data. What are the specs and technicals for tuning an LS1 engine? I have a guy that can tune it for me in CT, tho... But I won't be in CT for longer than late August...
