wheel adapters
wheel adapters
my brother has an 02 ss and is thinking of putting 285's on it but the guy at tirerack said that he has had a few complaints of them rubbing, so we were wondering if anyone else has heard of this. just so you all know he's going to put the firehawks on, are they as god as he says they are as i'm considering themfor my z. and last but not least my brother is also thinking of using wheel spacers to bump his wheels out as he thinks it would look cool but he is worried about how safe they are especially at high speeds (150+) and for autocrossing, so do any of you guru's know how safe they are.
I got my spacers at www.powertech.de since I could not find hubcentric spacers here in the US.... that was last year, now there are some guys on ebay who sell hubcentric spacers for 180$ for all four, email them for an offer for just a pair...
If you're getting the cheap spacers that just have a big hole in the middle you'll have all the load that is supposed to be on the axle's hub on the bolts. It will break one day...... at least there's a risk and I wouldn't take it...
On my Z28 I have 25mm spacers in the rear, 20mm spacers in the front with 9.5X17 rims , offset is 49mm. 49 - 25 = 24mm offset incl the spacer... with 275/40 no rubbing at all. The car is lowered 1.5" (Eibach).... I'm going to get the 285/40 soon and I don't expect any rubbing....
hope that helps...
