I have a stock 00 SS and I was talking to my friend about how a cam can get you up to 45 more horsepower and I thought he was full of it. What do you guya think, and from experience, which are the best to go for? Thanks for any Info.

Your friend is right. Check out Thunder Racings new 224/224 cams. They rock. Close to 400 to the wheels on stock heads with all the bolt ons.

The camshaft is the brains behind the whole operation of your engine. It can make a difference of more than just 45HP on just about any given engine, so there's no doubt it could and would drastically improve HP on your LS1 motor. However, cam selection requires a lot of time and thought - it's not as simple as "I think I'll bolt a set of headers on in place of these exhaust manifolds" - but it's a very common performance mod to upgrade your cam, so hopefully more people can give some input as to what would be a good choice (sorry, I'm not too sure on LS1 cams) but I've heard that the GM "Hot-cam" is a popular cam, which gives a good performance boost, but remains very streetable. HTH.
