What you think of this custom exhaust?

I went to a muffler shop today to get priced on how much it would be to do the dynomouth. The guy said he would rather not do it like that because of ground clearance issues. So, he told me that this guy with a Trans Am had this exhaust done by them. It looked something like this ( i did this in paint, so excuse the bad diagram) -

How much louder is that then the dynomouth? Do you think its a good setup?

First, I seriously doubt you're going to run into any ground clearance issues with a properly installed "dynomouth."

Second, if you go with this guy's exhaust...it's going to be quite a bit louder, considering probably 60-70% (maybe more) of your exhaust will not be muffled at all (it will probably be similar to a wide open Borla). I'm not saying that your car is going to be unbearably loud...because I assume you're still running the stock manifolds and cats. If you do get headers and a Y in the future though, then IMO it would probably be unbearable (really loud, raspy and just plain obnoxious ).

yeah, that setup bites. ever noticve how no one hear that has the loudmouth orteh dynomouth ever complain about clearance issues? My guess would its cause there arent.

You could ask and know for sure.. I think you need to find another muffler shop and get a second opinion. hehe

that sounds like a bunch of BS to me....tell them how u want it....BTW that diagram is going to be like straight pipes....one bullet muffling one side isnt gonna do anything...and also....u really have to like loud cars to want to do any kind of bullet muffler with headers.....my car sounds like a 747 (lol seriously). i love it but most other people dont...

Well, i went to another muffler shop today, and again was told that the dynomouth would do nothing for me. He wanted me to buy a magnoflow and just have it welded it. But they wanted to charge me 160 for just the muffler. HAHA! So i told him i wanted the dynomouth and he said the labor would be 200, so i left.
I swear that this has come out to be harder than it should.

I see no need for a muffler at all in the design that guy wanted to do. I'd just run a cut out instead of that design. Some muffler shops just can't seem to think out of their tiny mentally challenged boxes.

Find a small independent shop that's not real busy ... they're more likely to want to help you with what you want ... larger shops that are busy just want to do thier cookie cutter thing ...
