Talking What you guys think??

I just bought a Thunder Racing 224/224 .561/.561 114 LSA cam. What do you guys think about this cam?? What kind of horsepower gain could i see from this cam with my mods? Also is there any place i could buy the retainers, valve springs, and pushrods in a package? Thanks. Peace!!

Thunder racing sells complete packages. It's a very good cam, mild enough for everyday driving, but aggressive to make big numbers. most people with bolt-ons and that cam make ~380-400rwhp.

Should gain you 40 or so HP, so assuming that you're at about 330 with headers and lid, you should be in the 370 to 380 range. Dirveability is generally fairly good.

Re: What you guys think??

IVe been thinking about getting this cam as well b/c i have heard a lot of good things about it, but ive been debating between it and the comp cam 224/230 .581/.588 . It is like 40-50 cheaper then the TR 224/224 cam, i wonder how much more power it would make as well? Anyone got any info on that cam? Which would be better with stock heads, or would there be much difference?

Re: What you guys think??

from what I keep reading the 224/224 is the biggest you can go to pass cali smaog. It realy sucks cause you could get away with a little more duration and lower LSA for more power that won't take away anymore drivablilty, but because cali is so strict you really can't go any higher. I myself want something slightly bigger-no more than 230 duration, but hell I certainly don't want to change cams if I ever move to a state with emissions like cali. So this is something to think about, plus if your in cali having longtubes will be a pain to pass, and without them you'll really limit your power. If you have hte money it would be better to go forced induction.
