Hugger Orange was only available in '99. Don't know how many were made.

If I had bought one, I would have painted the black roof orange and then added white stripes and made it a reverse '97 Anniversary Edition...SLP did a similar scheme in '97 and put an LT4 in it, but it still had the '97 front end.

'98 had 2 colors that were even more rare I do believe. Sport Gold Metallic was only available in '98 and Purple was only availble through the 1st half of the '98 model run.

I don't know how true this is, but I remember reading somewhere that Sport Gold Metallic was made for a hotel chain that was giving away Camaros in a contest.

I think the rarest production 4th Gen F-body that was actually made available to the public might be the LT4 Firehawk...I THINK there were only like 4 made...it could be more, but I'm fairly confident it was less than 10 by far. Of course there are several 1 offs done by various companies, but the LT4 Firehawk could be ordered from a Pontiac dealer.

I've actually seen 2 Sport Gold Metallic '98 V6's in my area, but I've only seen a Z28 once when I was at Clearwater beach a couple of summers ago.

Rarest 4th gen is a convertible formula. There were only 2 built.

Re: what year did they make hugger orange ls1

i know to test the LS1 before it was put into production on the c5's, they took some C5 suspension parts, bolted on some camaro and firebird parts, and put in an LS1 in it, and names the car a camaro-bird. GM tested the drivetrain out and i think there were only a couple cars that got assembled.. they might still exist?

Edit: after about 15 minutes, I still can't find the link to the article i read... i give up.. eh

Why would you want to own the ugliest 4th gen Camaro SS ever made? The first time that we saw it at CamaroSuperfest everyone in the group of aabout a dozen people said:"Oh my god is that ugly!!!"

If it still helps the original question, I know 375 HOSS's were made in 1999. Dunno how many total.

Are you talking about the ZL1's? There was a ZL1 in like 93 or 94 with an aluminum 427 with 630hp and one in 99 or 00 that had the 572 with around 800hp.

You are referring to John Moss's 572 big block ZL1 car. There is only one, it is his, and it was done in response to a comment made to him that there would never be another big block Camaro. It definetly was not a production car though. I believe it had/has a 5 speed manual in it, with 5th gear being direct drive, and the last time I read about it is was making 800+ hp.
