Question What is wrong with my clutch?

So here is the problem, whenever I'm racing or just messing around i'll take off in first, shift to second(wheels spin), and then try to go to third, it wont let me?? I'll pull my foot off the clutch and it will stick halfway down, i'll have to pull the clutch up w/ my foot to get it in gear. And if I go from a roll in 2nd on the street it will do the same thin when I try to go into 4th. I have no idea what is wrong with it, I know it's not normal. It's a 2000 Z28 M6.(stock)

Crazy stuff, I've heard of things like this happening before though. If you still have a warranty, take it to the dealership, since it's not a "wear" issue. Seems like the return spring is likely the problem, although it's odd that it only happens in third.

Bad hydrolics...doubt warranty will cover it since it only happens when you are racing it. Also check your hydrolic fluid...it could need to be replaced.

Hydrolic fluid is fine, and it happens in third if I start in first and it happens in fourth if I start from 2nd. Someone told me it might be the slave cylinder, someone else said master cylinder, and someone else said both, just wondering if anybody else around here knows anything about my problem or has been through the same thing? This sucks!! TIA

I had a similar problem. Took the car to the dealer, and they said that it was the pressure plate (stock clutch assy).

I replaced it with the SLP, and no problem since. Take a look at how bad my flywheel was scorched because the clutch was slipping. Look!!

You can get the whole kit GM updated Master/Slave cylinder lines and throwout braeing from LS-1 S p e e d i n c for $250.00 If your going to replace the clutch you might as well go all the way and get something really tough. Spec stage 3/ Mcleod twin
Mcleod also makes an adjustable Master for 230 something look at Thunder Racing.
Oh yeah the problem is in your tranny, your synchro's are shot.
While your replacing those, you might as well get the steel 3-4 shift fork D&D makes.

I have had the same problem with my 00' SS, I have a friend who works at a Dealership, he said there is a bullitin on this prob and warrenty will cover it . The prob is the return spring, also he said if it goes to the floor and stays, they are supposed to replace the slave cyl.

So it's just the return spring? My clutch don't stick all the way down but it sticks halfway down, closer to the floor though! Would it be a good idea to get a Z06 clutch, master cylindeer and a slave sylinder, replace them all at the same time? I don't have a big budget, so what would be my best bet, just the return spring?

Nevermind, I'm probably going to just get everything, Z06 clutch(or something else similiar in price?) Master cylinder, slave cylinder, and what is the steel 3-4 shift fork? What does it do? Any suggestions on a different clutch or should I just go with the Z06 clutch?

I had my friend check price on the spring today, If your warrentee is out it's about $40.
So it sounds like the cheapest way out for now. I thought it would be around $10-20, if so I was going to do it my self to keep from getting off work but for $40 I think Ill let the warrentee get this one.
