What should I know b4 buying a ls1 98 camaro
i'm buying a 6 speed 98 z28 camaro. It has t-tops engine looks cool, and im buying it from a dealer. I dont know a whole lot about cars, so I wanted to ask you pros and experinced camaro owners what should I know. The car also has 106k on it and has had 2 drivers.
what mods have been done to the car. Lid, exhaust, suspension have they been altered. Check to see it the lca's are stock. Small signs like this could tell you if the car had been pushed hard. Unless you get a leak down done you really don't know the condition of the motor. Shifter on the m6 still stock?
check for bluish gray smoke from the exhaust, (oil) it if has it dont panic, it could just be the pcv is bad, common in ls1's. talk them down tho as if the rings are bad.
passenger side sun visor will probably break off, also common
also look out for mod fever

6 0f 1, but if it is with a dealer, especially a used car dealer, be afraid, be very afraid, unless you get a good warranty-----doubtful.
I believe it is better to find a low milage vehicle, one owner, no mods, even if you pay more. You won't get any guarantees, but you generally get what you see. When buying a car from a gypsy dealer (who probably picked it up at auction) you won't get any quarantees either, and you can bet it isn't going to be a deal.
One thing about camaros, many buy them for a toy---new---and then put very few miles on them. Then they finally decide (with the wife's help) to get rid of them. So they are out there, but don't expect them to give them away, but on the other hand you should be better off in the long run----and short run----to buy from them rather than a lot. JMHO
