What should I do first?
Re: What should I do first?
get a lid...
depending on what exhaust you have and if you like the sound....exhaust would be next....maybe a cutout
is it an auto or manual....manual i would suggest gettting a shifter or at least a short stick

I totally agree w/Shempy. The MAFs are a waste. Do a lid and catback if you don't have one already. Also, look into some subframe connectors. They don't make it faster, but prevent body flex unibodies are known for.

Re: What should I do first?
If you have the SS it all ready comes with a special lid and possibly a free flow Catback Exhaust.
First you should put either a K&N or a Holly Power shot air filter in that lid for about $50.
Next if you don't have the free flow catback you should buy one. They range from $280 to $750 depending on what brand you choose. Hooker, SLP, Corsa, Magnaflow, etc… Note: If you plan on headers later stay away from the SLP Loudmouth exhaust. It is extremely loud with headers.
Next, if automatic tranny you would need a High Stall Torque Converter, a tranny cooler and a set of drag radial tires. Nothing wakes up an LS1 automatic like a High Stall Converter. If you have a stick, it would be a good idea to upgrade your clutch and also get a set of drag radials tires.
Next Headers. My first two modifications that seemed to make a lot of difference were headers and the torque converter. I have the Hooker Long Tubes that fit and perform nicely but there are a lot of good brands to choose from if you want to keep your cats.
With these modes listed you should be seeing mid to high twelve “second quarter miles” at approximately 110 mph trap speed.
Good Luck,
Al

Incorrect, the SLP lid was an option not standard.
Re: What should I do first?
it only comes with the lid and cat back if it was optioned when the first person ordered the car. thats why some ss's were rated at either 325 or 345 and they say you get 10 from the lid and 10 from the cat-back thats where they get 345 from
