Question What is shift extension?

I am trying to find out everything I can before I get a converter in the spring and I can't figure out what shift extension is and what variables affect it. The more I read about converters the more confusing it gets.

Also, I was leaning toward a Vig 3200 but the more I read I think I might be better to go to TCI just for cost. I haven't found any real negatives for the TCI converters, Is there any? I talked to my dads friend about his TCI and he loves it, but it is behind an 8-71 blown big block so not quite the same application .

One more question, what effect does having a high stall converter have when going WOT from a roll?

Sorry so many questions
BTW this is on a 2002 2.73 geared z28, no power adders. (yet $$$)
