^^^I agree with you 110%. Magazines (I hope?! ) are on "our" side..............sometimes I question manufacturer's claims, but that's why mag's do these tests to give us, the consumer, real-world facts & figures.

Oh, and sorry I missed a slight technicality in my last post..............I won't let it happen again.

No, he said he read it in a magazine. It wasnt his car, and I believe magazines just about as much as I trust politicians. I think a 16hp from an open cut out is a bit high, so all that does is leads me to believe that yes in facr, the FM does kill power. I didnt do a before FM dyno test so I cant say for 100% certain but with my own case, and from what Ive heard from others, the FM does hurts more than it helps.
Hey, if you wanna get all "technical", he said 13 HP, NOT 16 HP.

I have seen several posts on www.ls1tech.com on guys with Flowmaster exhausts losing HP on the dyno. I would strongly urge you not to get a flowmaster. Flowmaster AMerican Thunder 2 chamber mufflers sound badass on stangs with dual exhausts but they don't sound any where near as good on an f-body.

If you want to get really technical i was refering to my dyno run of 294 closed cut out w/flowmaster and then 310 with open cut out. If I didnt make that clear, I apologize. I didnt mean to add to the confusion.

Flows are Awesome imo. I know you won't be dissapointed. If you want the extra hp, just get a cutout. I have the 40 series on my 67 Camaro SS and they sound great. There is some drone, but unlike other mufflers, the sound is quality, not quantity. They are louder but it is a true dual setup. Flowmaster has developed a new 40 series muffler that sounds better than the original and is supposed to out flow it. They are called Super 40s. Here is a link, http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cg...ml?id=Ag4wi7AT There are some sound clips on this site as well. You will loose a good bit of ground clearance with these, but you could run a 3 inch set up with one 40 series in place of the factory muffler and have a single exit.

I'm currently running Hooker Long Tube Headers into a 3" Hooker Y-Pipe with a Hooker Cat-Back. It sounds very different from all other exhausts I've heard but it isn't loud enough for me. I'm installing a Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back after this Christmas, once it's installed I'll post and let everyone know how it sounds. I'm installing cutouts on each header so I can run open headers at the track so I don't really care if it doesn't flow as well as my Hooker does, I'm doing it for the sound. Open headers will always outflow a catback

Hey, no worries. One of the points I tried making earlier though, was that you can't compare ANY exhaust system with a system using a cut out, because obviously you will make more power with a cut out open..........it's basically the same as running open headers (or exhaust). Seeing a 16 HP increase like you got doesn't surprise me at all.
