What mods to chose

I'm ready for my first major mod upgrade for my 2000 Ls1 m6. I've already done my exhaust, Lid, shifter, & K&n filter. But, now I'm done with the small fry s***. I want something that I'll really see big gains. With a price range of $1500-2000 what are my best upgrade choses. Right now I'm leaning towards Cam/Headers, but I want more advice. Thanks for any feadback.

how much power would you like to make and how much streetability are you willing to sacrifice?

if you keep stock heads i hear the hotcam is a good choice. and don't forget you'll need tuning...so that's another 3-500 bucks

by "exhaust" do you also mean headers? is your car an M6 or an A4?

if you have not done headers this is what I would suggets next. if your car is an A4 I would also suggest a stall converter in the 3200 to 3500 range.

if you want a killer heads and cam package well then give me a call or shoot me an email as we can hook you up there.

My Ls1 is manual and by exhaust I meant flowmaster exhaust not including the headers. I've decided to first go with the headers, do you guys have any suggestions which ones to go with, I know SLP is probably the best on the market and there running around 1300.00, but I'd rather spend the money on a different brand without the brand name and save my money for the next mod. So I guess my question is are SLP really worth the extra $300-400, or is there a similar brand with about the same hp gains but not at top of the line price.

Hey guys you know any pros/cons about these headers, and if there is a difference in HP gains:

Mac TrueFit 1-3/4 Headers w/ Y-pipe w/ cats $749.95
Dynatech F-Body Sport Maxx System $1,295.95
SLP Header Kit Long Tube LS1 $1,299.00
Jet Hot Long Tube Headers w/ cats and y-pipes $949.95
TPis Long Headers w/ cats and y-pipes $1,049.95

IF you know any better brands at lower prices please tell, thanks.

The MACs will have better ground clearance while giving you close to the same hp as long tubes. Yesterday someone had a thread about the Jet hots not being equal length headers.

you should get heads at the same time, i mean, you will already have the exhaust manifolds off

that was me that had the post about the jthots, i put them side by side and it was just my imagination, they are almost exactly the same size, the little difference they have compared to a header that is 100% equal length would be any noticeable hp difference or et difference, several vendors that sell different kinds of longtubes all told me longtubes add pretty much the same, no particular brand outshines another when it comes to performance, i guess some of these vendors dyno tested different longtubes.

When I do get my headers installed is it really worth putting in the Ls6 intake manifold and mass air flow sensory, which has been recommended by a few shops including SLP. This would add another $800 to the job, so am I going to get some noticeable gains with these two mods, or should I spent it on something else.

Get a good cam(CC224) and headers. I picked up 65rwhp on this alone. I'd recommend the Jet Hot or Hooker headers before the overpriced SLP ones. For about 7-8 hundred you get everything.

The intake has good gains but forget the MAF until you are running big power.

Hey i PMED you about some SLP headers and ORYP. I have them and they are both in good shape. Im selling due to buying a vette and ill stick with how the vette feels until i get the urge to upgrade. So im looking to sell these. Id like about 650 shipped for them so if u want them PM me or e-mail me at mooley@comcast.net

They need to go. They are in great shape too. No rust and they wont rust either. You will be VERY pleased with these. Let me know ASAP.

Looked for that thread ... couldn't find it .. But I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't, considering that my passenger side front O2 sensor points at about 25 degrees towards the ground.

flowtech ceramic coated longtube headers, orp and accessories...under $600 shipped from thunderracing.com

all long tubes will give you the same hp (+/- 1hp)

the flowtechs are a great deal, specially since they come with the o2 sensor extensions!!

while you are installing headers i would HIGHLY reccomend changing the motor mounts to polyurathan mounts, to eliminate most engine movement under load and therefore reduce the chance of frame/header interference common with longtubes.

i have a DETAILED install page of my flowtechs on page 11 of my webpage in the sig

i would forget the MAF sensor, but the ls6 intake is a dyno proven 7-10hp gain...but install it yourself.

same goes for the headers...they are really pretty easy to install...just time consuming.
