what to look for?

I have been looking into the purchase of a 4th gen f-body. I found something that seems to be an awesome deal........ too good though. Its an 01 Camaro SS, 70k, ttops, leather, A4, Sunset Orange metallic.

There are some things about it that I find scary. First, the price is $9500.00...... this raises a "what's wrong with it" flag. The car looks nice and seems to run good. Next, the badges are gone from the fenders and rear, plus the exhaust tips have been removed. The lady selling it said that the previous owner wanted it to look like a sleeper. Finally, I threw the Vin into CARFAX and it says there are 21 records for that vehicle. To me that sounds like a few too many for a car that is only a few years old. I'd hate to waste the money on a CARFAX because it seems like there is something seriously wrong. Also, the car has been for sale for several months at that price.

Anyone think I'm being paranoid? Seems fishy to me.

check the RPO codes on the door to make sure it is a real SS.

21 records is a lot of records for a car that old. My 99 has 17 records and thats with no major accidents or stuff like that. Pray those extra records are service records from being serviced a lot.

I posted the vin the other day, but no one was able to run it for me. I hate to waste 30 bucks checking it if its worthless. I know, thats pathetic, but I've just got a bad feeling about this one.

Dude run the RPO codes and spend the 30 to get carfax it won't kill ya. I would rather spend $30 and see what's up with car than buy almost a 10 thousand dollar car and find out the frames all bent or something worse. just my .02 Good Luck.
