What is a lid?

Sorry to sound so ignorant but i'm just getting into F-bodys and am trying to find out as much as possible. For what i can figure it is the ram air hood scoop but i'm not sure. So let me know. Do they really add on performance also?

I'm pretty sure that a lid is the airbox under the hood. everyone says they add power, but I bought my car with one so I'm not sure.

It is an aftermarket lid for the airbox. They flow better and don't have the air silencer crap.

krillanaross,
I'll trade you my stock one for your aftermarket one if you want to find out if they add power.
