so there is such a thing as a camaro z28 ss? I saw somebody's sig on here stating that but figured it was BS: I am looking fo another z28 and came across this car:

the only 4th gen Z28 SS was the 96 model's

every one after that was just "SS"

 

why did carmax list it as a Z28 SS, stupidity?

 

because all SS's are Z28's. the SS was really nothing more than an option package for the Z28. (for 98+, dont know about the LT1's)

 

Yup, just an option for the Z28. Just like the early SS models of the Impala's and such back in the 60's. It wasn't until they got really popular until Chevrolet made the SS it's own model.

 

z28 is a preformance package, ss is another preformance package that includes the z28 package so in all SS, so all SS should also be a z28. If you look in your glove box or inside your drivers door there should be the GM RPO codes.
