What does everyone think of a Hooker cat back??

I am thinking about picking one up because they are so cheap. Any reason not too? How does it sound on an LS1? If I dont like it I can just sell it and buy somethng else.

Thanks in advance
John

I think they are awesome nice sounding and all only downside is they rust somewhat quickly especially the tips.

Thumbs up

I haven't heard any bad stuff about it, so that is what I am planning on getting.

It's inexpensive and it sounds nice, rumbly but not too loud since I am using my car a sdaily driver.

Go to LS1Info.cm for sound clips.

Later!

I love mine. Sounds great and is not to loud. Perfect for a daily driver. Install was real easy the hardes part was getting the stock stuff out. Plus you can drop the muffler in about 5 min and be really loud when you want to.

I love mine. It was an easy install. The stock hangers are in the perfect location, everything went smooth. The sound is great! Especially when paired with hooker lt's and an ORY As for the tips, I recommend painting the inside with black engine paint, then putting a clear coat (engine paint over the inside and outside of the tips. They will look great and shouldn't rust

I haven't heard anything bad about the Hooker setup yet either...

The price is certainly very competitive!!!

The Hooker Areo-Chamber cat back is one of the best sounding exhausts though the entire rpm range, on the market today. It isnt all that loud but at wide open throtle you can really hear it. the downside is, as mentioned above is that it is aluminized and not stainless, so it will start to rust rather quickly especially if you live in a region like the northeast. However, a can of protective metal coating will take care of that problem quickly. Make sure to clean it before coating, this should hold up for quite a few years, than recoat it. One of the best upsides of the Hooker besides the price is, that it takes to mods on the car (headers etc) a lot better than most systems on the market. Unlike the loud mouth with was designed to sound awesome on a mostly stock car thats gonna stay that way, the areochamber cat back holds no such grudges.

I bought the Hooker. I live in Florida so rust should not be too much of a problem.

Thanks for all the input.

I love my Hooker! If it fell of today I'd order another no questions asked. After just under a year installed I did notice a little more rust on the exhaust than I'd have liked to see.. I didn't see any on the pipe though. I think I'll take the chamber off, prep it and paint it with some high temp paint. I'll have to have a spin around the block with it off now that you guys mention it

since you are doing a catback install i would spend the extra few bucks and add a cutout to whichever catback you decide to go with....
