What do you guys think of SLP?

I was on the SLP perfomance website and I have to admit they have some pretty cool interesting things there that had cought my eyes. Like their short shifter was fairly less expensive then some other aftermarket ones olso considering that their long tube headers are 900 bucks compared to what a machine shop that wants 1200 to build them for my car. What is everyones thought on SLP?

A few of their products are good. Most are overpriced.
Customer service sucks.

SLP.. some of their stuff is ok...

Shortshifter? I would rather get the Pro 5.0.. It is THE shifter of choice for many..

Most people like their lids.. I had read a thread where 1 person didnt like the fitment.. He drove to SLP headquarters and they told him that some fit better than others.. no swap or anything..
so the front corners of it would bow up some.. I went to a SLP CAD soon afterwards and witnessed this issue on several cars that were in the car show...

Others on this board have had no problems which concurs with what SLP had told the guy that some are made better than others.

For the LT1 they had what is IMO the best CAI..

I really havent seen too much from them that is worth the $$ though..
Their headers may be cheaper than others, but if I could get a shop to fab me some mandrel bent SS headers, I would rather go that route and do a true dual exhaust.

In general, I haven't had much of a problem with SLP. Their lid doesn't fit perfectly, but I got it to fit just fine for my purposes. Plus I ordered 4 take off wheels from them online and they were shipped promptly. When I called to check on the order after I placed it, they were nice enough. Guess YMMV.

I have 2 SLP shifters, got them quick. Very good for the price. Still keeps your OEM rubber gramet and shift stick. Go with something else if you don't want the gramet. Just chek other sites for pricing and like products. I like the LS1 Motorsports Lid better, fit real nice and the rounded corners MAY be better.

SLP in general is ****, just a compnay selling half @ss performance parts with inflated claims.

If your considering SLP LT's I'll have a set for sale this winter, changing combos and won't need them with a turbo.

Agreed. Most of SLP's products are crap & way over priced. The only decent products they have are their lids & SFC's; otheriwse mostly junk!

Depends what you're looking for. If it's not a direct replacement part for an SS or Firehawk, they'll sell you whatever you want.

Customer Service Sucks

If you do not own a SS or a Hawk they really want nothing do do with you.

God forbid you say GMMG on the SLP board you might get banned.

If I need to purchase anything that SLP sells I will order it from a sponsor on Z28.com or LS1.com.

I have ordered Take Off tires from there with no problem. I have also attended the SLP day at Englishtown and I had no problems with them (own a Z28). While there I was really interested in some subframe connectors of thiers. I was looking at the doublr diamond ones. I was not impressed with those due to the fact that I had planned on lowering my car and there was this extra steel there that was not needed.

I guess each one has thier own opinion. This seems to be something to ask and read with a grain of salt and experience it yourself. Some have good experience and others not.

Thumbs up Excellent overseas service

I've got a 2001 SS over here in the UK and I've always found SLP excellent. Only had one incorrect delivery and they sorted it out immediately - shipped the correct part, at no cost to me, and told me to keep the wrong piece. (anyone want an Air Induction Kit for a 1993 Camaro/Firebird?)

Some of the other parts places won't accept overseas orders with credit card payment - inconvenient to the point that I now use SLP by default.

Very responsive and their parts fit fist time, quickly and with no problems. Also, easy to follow instructions are included. Very helpful with various types of shipping to help keep the cost down.
