what to do for 12's

what to do the Car is in the shop getting painted for 5 days so i get to sit here and think about what to do to it when it gets out

i'm serching for high 12's like 12.8 or 12.9 what do i need to do to get there i've heard very diffrent things

some say change from your 2:73 gears to 3:73 but then say well then u need drag radials to do that some say buy nitrious

but i just want to break into the 12's and leave it for awhile and work on the cosmetics of the car till the need for speed kicks in agin so what do i need to reach this pretty consitantly and what parts and the estamaded price of them and install and please don't leave out details like well nitrious is only 500 for a kit but then forget to tell me about the window switch and all other components that add to this total

srry it's so long but i'm board and really need a detailed list of what to do

higher stall convertor and some nittos. can't give you an estiamte, everything i know is canadian funds, and i don't have an a4 so i have no clue what a converter costs
add some gears, maybe a lid to that and you could easily be in the 12's. unless you are a horid driver

Stall (3200-3800 for daily driver) - $700-$900
Nitto DRs - $400 a pair

That will get you 12s easy. Add gears and your mid 12's Gears will cost about 4 or 5 hundred for the gears and install.

Just a thought. I have a friend who has an a4 ( I have an M6 ) and he has a vigilante 3200 stall, lid, K+N, Nitto's, no CATS, and is mildly tuned and his best 1/4 is 13.04 and he's turning a 1.8 60' not too bad at ALL. So for those saying a stall and Nittos will get you there I highly doubt it, but it could. Like I said he's running 1.8 60' and thats pretty good on street tires. Oh yah his car is an 2000 SS.

If it was me, I never had an LS1, I'd do free ram air, K&N, lid, ported TB, 3:42's(I like good gas milage ), new treads, and a little tuning. Maybe that'll work, I have no idea, o ya, I forgot the Vig 3000. That should do it.

OK, with 2.73's my car ran 13.4, so I switched to 3.73's and again, I ran 13.4. HOWEVER, traction is a huge issue now, so IMO, invest in some good tires before anything else, THEN decide what mod(s) you want to do to get a high 12. IMO, I think my car should hit either a 13.0, or maybe a 12.9 if I had a good set of tires on the back. Besides the gears, all I've got is a lid and a K&N filter.

What was his MPH? With that 60' and an LS1 that should easily be 12's. What kind of elevation? That could be it too. There's alot of factors why it didn't do better, but figure it woulda ran AT LEAST a 13.5 stock. A converter + DR's are good for almost .5. Lid another .1, cats another .1... hell even the tune coulda been another .1.

All I know is there are COUNTLESS people with JUST a stall and DR's and they break into 12's. And a lot are pre 2001 (no LS6 manifold) So just because your buddy couldn't pull it off doesnt mean no one can. I can see where you're coming from, but don't you think all of us are saying stall and DR's for a reason? We sure as hell aren't pulling it out of our asses.

im at an easy 12.9-13.1. all i did is a lid, filter, maf ends, shift kit, and cat-back. go one step further to the free ram air and im sure ull be there, if ur a decent driver.
