What to do with $2500?
Re: What to do with $2500?
I'd go with:
- 3.73s
- longtubes (hooker or pacesetter, seems to be the favs of the members who actually know)
- catback (I like GMMG, but get one you think sounds good)
- subfame connectors
- torqe converter (the 3200 already quoted sounds about right)
- possibly a bigger rear sway bar (~21mm)
- port the T/B
Not sure how much the above mods would cost total ($2K maybe?). Power gained wouldn't be huge, but combined with the gears and a higher stall, would definitely feel quicker. Things like subframes and sway bars can make your car handle a little better, and make it more fun to drive. IMO, this would be a good first round of mods, and then maybe in the future you could throw in a cam and port the heads when you have some spending $ again.

Heads cam and whatevers left over put to exhaust. See if you can find some buddies who have mechanical experience and try and do it yourself. It's not actually that hard with the right tools.

Is it 100% bone stock? If so, I would go lid, headers, cam, stall, tune, and a catback if you have anything leftover. With that and sticky rubber, I wouldn't be suprised to see strong 12s all day
Re: What to do with $2500?
you should get a cam and valvetrain parts, springs, rocker arms, pushrods, etc. and a stall. I have friend with a 02 ls1 putting down 395/393 with just a cam and headers.. also get some long tubes and a stall converter. all that stuff would be right around 2500 dollars depending on what brands you get but you will definitely need good tuning for the cam to get those numbers.
