If you're comparing 98-00' LS1's, intake manifold, cam, heads ,springs, valves, pistons, and block are different... but not that much, really. The 01-02's use the same block and intake as LS6. Same engine, just slightly beefed up.

i believe the main difference is in the heads on the 01-02's, they do have a different mas air though.

LS6 is in the Z06, the LS1 is in Z28's and WS6's.

The bottom line: LS6 is more powerful than LS1, but you can always make it equal to an LS6 with a few bolt ons and such

EDIT: forgot to add TransAm, so first sentence should read: LS6's are in the Z06, and the LS1's are in the Z28's and TransAm's, and the WS6's.
