True, but I believe fully modded the LT1 will be faster and alot stronger with the iron block and you can get a LS1 Iron too. But the LT1 is faster if you ask me but the LS1 is faster stock to stock mainly because of the heads, intake, and the ignition. Since the LT1 doesn't need a heated intake is it possible to make a composite LT1 intake to replace the stock one?

I don't agree with that at all the LT1 is a great motor period. but the LS1 is a much improved all around better motor. the LT1 only has a two bolt main (camaro block) 4 bolt main (vette block), and iron maybe a little stronger, but it also holds heat alot longer and weighs more. As to the LS1's 6 bolt main
deep skirt design. and mod for mod the LS1 will allways be faster.

Not true . LS1's are just a better desighn..period. Mod for Mod the LS1 will prevail . My stock LS1 ran with a few cammed/Header LT1's around me area.

LS1 heads make power past 6200..LT1's do not . Not even ported/polished LT1 heads make good power past 6200.

LS1 is just a far superior engine.

cough its got 6 bolt main because its an aluminum block cough

i always see people knocking the LT1 because it has 2 bolt mains ... but yet, we don't seem to be seeing LT1's fail because of it.

aluminum isn't as strong as iron. if you put 2 bolt mains on an aluminum block it will fail ... GM didn't come along and go "hey lets do 6 bolt mains because we feel like it"

Re: what is the diff between an LS1 and LT1

Comparing modded engines doesn't make sense to me.

ls1 is a better designed engine, thats what happens over time. the lt1 was at the top when it hit the street, and the tpi guys were probably saying that a modded tpi can run with a lt1. The ls1 engine is no longer top of the pile anymore the ls2 is a better version of it and the ls7 owns all right now. 8 years from now it will all be changed again.
