What is a cut out on an exhaust?
 

What is a cut out on an exhaust system? What's it's function or use? Price? Does it make your car louder?:confused:

Cutout issue has been discussed in great lenghts in the past few weeks. Please do a search and you'll find plenty of info. ;)

cut the guy some slack. he probably is new to the car and obviously new to the board. to answer your question, a cutout is basically a bypass of everything after the cat(s). so you will not have the exhaust going out the muffler. and yes your car will be alot louder. there really isint that much more you can do to make the car louder except headers. am i missing anything? when i have mine open, i often set off car alarms as i drive by. i believe it is supposed to give you around 10hp if u are interested. not bad in my opinion for 30 bucks. any exhaust shop could weld it in for you in about 20 minutes. hope this helps. welcome to the board:cool:
