i've had an lt1 for quite a while now and was looking into an ls1. what are the common problems with them? or any problems that you have had. lt1's have the opti, and oil leaks. thanks.

 

Pushrods bending, piston slap, and rearend weakness.

 

faulty water pump, belt tensioners, and belt squeak.

 

piston slap, oil consumption for newer models, warped brake rotors, leaking pinion seal, slow passenger side power window,


i have leaking pinion seal but i replace my fluid yearly so it doesn't matter...very tiny leak.
the power window thing doesn't bother me at all.

 

Traction...

 

I just had the rear pinion seal changed this week. Haven't had any squeeky belts yet. Rear driver side brake squeeks when I'm driving slowly though a neighborhood. Other than that and a dash board rattle I'm sitting pretty good.

 

sounds like almost all the same problems with my 97. other than the belts has anyone had any major problems with the engine?

loves to eat oil

rotors warp like crazy
likes to do 360 in the snow and sometimes in the rain too
random oil pump failure and fuel pumps........

 

News flash. Just becuase a certain problem happens with YOUR car doesnt mean its common.
