If your looking to go as big as a 427ci, you'll need either the C5R block ~3,000$ or the new LSX block ~2,000$ .. a Ls2 might get you close.

Do they make the LSx block in aluminum or does it still only come in iron?

I was reading about it in my GM High tech mag. I'm about 99% sure it all aluminum. The C5R and LS2 are iron if memory serves me right.

Wow - make up your minds...

The LS2 and C5R blocks are aluminum.

The new LSX block from GMPP is Iron and very very heavy.

Forget the extra 20 cubes and just build a LS2 based 408.

Search the forums over at ls1tech, there are plenty of example builds that will get you the power you want.

The other option is to take a cheap production block and have Darton sleeves installed, that will get you 427 cubes.

Ya i thought that the lsx block was iron, the c5r block to much $$, so i might see how much a sleeved ls2 block would be or maybe just go to like a 402 or 408 something like that. i just would like to have that all aluminum block though. i always that that clear acrylic lsx block that they have for the shows would be pretty sweet if it was actually functional. imagine being able to see your internals while it was actually running
