Acceleration Slip Regulation.
Good when you're driving in the rain or snow. Bad if you're peeling out.

It was a option on all LS1s. I wouldn't worry about not having it, just don't do anything crazy in the rain or snow, not that you should anyways.

ASR can be annoying because it kicks up the gas pedal and then you can't gas very hard for the next few seconds. Its annoying because 99% of the time it is reacting to a tiny slick spot or something else very minor.

On most other cars and in magazines, they simply call it "Traction Control".

Isn't traction control a little different than ASR?

From what I understand about how it works, yes, it does work differenltly, but its goal (again, from what I understand) it has the same goal as a normal Traction Control System.

so is that what causes my gas pedal to kick up sometimes? I was wondering why the hell it did that when I reallly stepped on the gas, sometimes the pedal comes back up and I have to release the pedal before stepping on it again...

Yes.I also beleve if it detects too much wheelspin it will actually apply the brakes for you.It never happened to me though.

Yeah, you can turn it off though. But it turns back on every time you start your car. They sell things to make it always off unless you turn it on, they cost about $50.

I'm in the habit of turning it off as soon as I start the car. Sometimes I'll drive with it on cause I don't like seeing "ASR OFF" on the instrument panel.

I didn't think ASR was an option with V6s....

V6s have SGS (second gear start). Car starts off in second gear instead of first. Makes the car very slow.
