Whaddya think of this PCV solution???

Hey guys. I was just thinkin about a different way to stop this oil consumption and smoke problem I have.

Can you take the back pickups from the valve covers and link them together to equalize crankcase pressure. Then, run a hose with the PCV valve inline to the throttle body from the front pickup in the passenger side valve cover so the oil isnt sucked in so badly?

I have a problem with my baby smokin under full throttle only after an extended run period. Long enuff for the oil to get built up in the intake.

Let me know what you guys think.

Later, Stu

My car did the same thing a bit ago although it is NOT a LS1 or Camaro for that matter. My PCV was operating just fine but still seeing oil in my intake filter. It turned out that it was an early sign of a blown piston. I'd do a compression check to see if everything is normal and running A'ok.

huh, weird

well a compression test would tell you if your getting consistant pressure from cylinder to cylinder....the correct test to see if your rings are blowing by or there are any valves not sealing is a leakdown test....which is kinda like a compression test on steroids but much more reliable and able to tell you how much is leaking and where its coming from...

last time i checked there were no early signs of a blown piston...if its blown, the engine is done..period....if there is damage to a piston there would be more symptoms than what you described in your car too, i.e. running like ****, loud noise, and other horrific problems

if your getting oil in your intake there are 2 possibilities...its getting sucked in through the pcv system...or you have a leaking intake manifold gasket...that shouldnt have anything to do with cylinder sealing which would leak and smoke all the time

Leakdown test is already done with no probs. I am still runnin 12.0's all day long but I only see the smoke after long trips and then goin WOT.

I think I am gonna try the inline compressor filter.

Thanks, guys.
