waterpump leaking

waterpump leaking

my 2001 camaro z28 has 27k miles and the waterpump is leaking. it looks like it is leaking at the gasket almost. do i replace the pump or just the gaskets? thanks im new to LS1's

If it's leaking at the gaskets then just change them.

another one for the waterpump wars, if your waterpump is leaking i doubt its your gasket when your waterpump goes bad there is a tiny little hole on the bottom of it (you cant see it) that drips collant making it real hard to find out where the leak is. just to be sure though you might want to take it to a shop and ask them they will probably say its you waterpump ls1;s are notorios for waterpumps going out..

well i guess i will take it off and inspect it, if its bad i will get a new one. is it ok to use an autozone or similar waterpump? or should i buy a GM one? thanks

oh yeah, can i dirve it for the next couple of days until i change out the pump? thanks again

yeah you can drive it but it will still leak coolant just watch your level and temp it should be ok.i pretty sure autozone dosent carry waterpumps for ls1's at least around here they dont.
