water pump?

I've gathered from this board that the water pump takes a dump alot on our cars. So last night, as I got out of my car i heard a repeated drip/fizzle coming from the front of the car. I didn't immediately freak out b/c I had been running cold Defrost all the way home. This morn, I popped the hood and noticed on my inside of my hood that there were water marks (i think it was water) primarily on the side of the hood that the a/c piece was, but were clearly on the other side too. My car has 70000 miles on it and I am unsure that the water pump was changed by the previous owner. If this is the culprit, how hard is an install of a water pump on our LS1's?

I have 49,000 on mine and I have an intermitent leak from the waterpump. It is either the seal or the vent hole. I stops leaking when the engine is at operating temp. I just keeping an eye on the level. It has not leaked for a week or so.

I have the GM manual for the 2000 F-body. The waterpump change is straight forward. Remove the air cleaner housing, drain the fluid, etc. It does, however, recommend removing the cooliing fans. Possibly for clearence. Hope this helps.
