Honestly I'd highly doubt there would be any over MAYBE 1 HP unless you're running a Ram Air Setup... and then the scoops would have to be right at the nose like a WS6 Hood for it to function properly...
Honestly I think it is because the filter style than the actual system... Lets think in terms of economy...
First off, that style filter isn't as common as a rectangle filter.
Second off, that style filter is exposed and an exposed filter is likely to get dirty 10X faster than a standard closed filter setup so this detours buyers.
When buyers are detoured and the product isn't selling much, prices go up because there's not enough selling enough of them to meet overhead, so one buyer is now paying the overhead of equivalent to that of three buyers would an SLP system, because SLP sells enough to meet overhead... make sense?

Sorry, I didn't call myself bashing it in any form, I never said it was a bad product or not to buy it. I was just answering the second poster's question through what I believed.

I personally think the Volant looks slicker than a lid if the power gains are slightly better, or even the same. But it is also in how much you want to pay...lids are pretty cheap. We are probaly one of SLP's top three vendors, and have sold hundreds of their lids. In the end, whatever you want to buy is up to you...I just want us to be the one you buy it from because we are the best value.
Volants for any vehicle are expensive because they are generally made of better material and with a bit of thought.
For instance, I have a GTO, and a K&N for a GTO is a plastic tube and a cone filter essentially. The Volant on the otherhand comes with an actual airbox and what not so you are sucking cool air in the engine bay.
I've always liked the Volant intake and would like to have one. I just don't get why they're so expensive. Compare the f-body intake to the GTO set up that is a complete intake system with an enclosed box that goes across the engine bay...I could see the cost in it. The f-body one is basicly just half of the business end of the GTO system and its the same price? I know we have a short intake tract, so you'd think Volant would have a little lower retail price. Thats all I'm saying. It isn't the vendor's fault, its the manufacturer.
