Vacuum leak
Hi folks!
Since I bought my 2000 Z28 sometimes I got the SES light. The code is the P0410(secondary air pump failure) I checked the fuses and the relay and they were OK. But yesterday I discovered vacuum leak. There is a hose that goes from the back of the engine to the front of the engine and is connected near the TB body. It is at the passenger side of the engine. This hose has a small hole enough to make a lot of vacuum noise. The hole is near where the hose is connected to the TB. I think this is causing the SES light to come on but I'm not sure.
My question is, can you replace only that small portion of the hose or you have to replace the whole hose. I think you can detach that small front part of the hose but I not sure. If somenone knows something about this please let me know. I will go to my GM dealer and I don't want to get screw by them. Thanks in advance.

First thing that comes to mind, is that the AIR system doesn't go to the throttle body, so whatever you found disconnected by the TB couldn't have been part of the AIR system. Your AIR pump is down near the fender by the front of the car, the tubes run along the drivers side of the car to behind the drivers side cylinder head, where they fork off, and go to one of the primaries on your exhaust manifold/header.
If you had an AIR system leak, its very possible one of the check valves went bad, which would set an SES. This is why guys with mid length or long tube headers need AIR restrictor plates.
I don't know how much it would cost to replace the check valves, but I do know they go bad pretty easily if you have a leak, so I would check that.
