Upgrading

An LS1 is a great motor. It has a lot of potential. I was thinking about doing cams rods and rockers on it. How much power would it give me? How much would it cost? Does it run right all the time? It'd probably kill city MPG, but the highway would remain similiar, wouldn't it? God I love this car...

I just did a cam swap and I dynoed it yesterday. With LTs, lid, cutout, catback and the cam i dynoed 374rwhp/381 ft lbs untuned. Thats with a TR224 cam.

Re: Upgrading

Um, how could your 1/4 mile time not increase with a more agressive cam?

If you were not spinning too much before the cam, and then spinning uncontrolably after the cam you times would be worse. More power does NOT mean faster 1/4 times unless your hooking the power to the ground.

Re: Upgrading

Well, the tires on my camaro are pretty wide, and I can do a good job of keeping them in controll when I accelerate. If I did a bigger cam, even if the 60 footer was cut a big, all the extra power might make up for it in the higher gears.
