Update on 226/226/112 User...

Just wanted to give a little back to the board...

I've had my 226/226/112 in for almost a year now, and I still LOVE it!

I had it tuned on the street by a good guy here in Houston, and since then I've had no problems with driveability. You could put this thing in a brand new car and I dont think anyone who likes loud exhausts would complain. Provided it's an M6

I'm running the Patriot gold dual springs & ti retainers, and no problems with them, either...got around 17K miles..time to change'em lol

I cant believe it's been a year! Pretty much the last time I was online was right after I installed it & had it tuned lol!
I had originally planned to spray it with a 100-125 shot in the springtime & get it dyno'd with & without the spray, but now I have a liittle girl & a big girl to take care of now, so I had to put that off lol.

Anyways, The car runs better and better the more I drive it, and the only problem is traction! My girlfriend burned off my BFG DRs(275/40/17) on my rear SS rims, so right now Im running the salad shooters with Fisk Phantoms (255/55/16s) on the rear and I cant floor it until I get into mid-top 2nd, and even then I better be pointed straight and ready to back out lol.

I'd like to thank LS1howto.com for the tutorial, without it I would have been somewhat lost, as it was my first cam swap on an LSx engine..and the input and advice I received here was invaluable in choosing my cam.

Even so, I am glad I went smaller, because the low end on it is great, and it is now my daily driver...I've logged about 17K miles since I installed it which says a lot for me because it used to be a garage queen to tell the truth.

Now when I'm offered the 'ol Ford Taurus to putt around in, in order to save money on gas(I run 93 oct..)....I smile and say "no thanks", even if she's on "E" lol

I havent had a SINGLE thing break on it, and no tapping or anything..and my tuner says Im running 31* of timing with no retard whatsoever...so I guess thats good.

Again, thanks everyone, and questions would be great! I have had anyone to talk to about cars in quite a while lol! Im back!

BTW I will be upping the ante on this car sometime in the future, right now I'm not sure because Im getting married, buying a house, a car for the Misses, etc so thats a little foggy...but I'm always looking for ways to pinch pennies!

Thanks again!

Good to hear from you and to get a follow up. How's gas milage look, if you check that sort of thing?

Re: Update on 226/226/112 User...

I get 12 MPG in the city plus or minus 2 mpg(where I put my foot down lol)
which would be more like 18 if I drove like a civilized person

but heres the kicker! I logged 435 miles on my last trip from Little Rock, AR to Houston, TX...on one tank! Jeez!

So by my math thats 26 MPG! Not bad for what the car is!

And I definately wasnt babying it...I was hauling **** And played with a few folks on the way, too....

Stone4779,

Do you have an aftermarket gas tank?

Nope. stock 16.8 gal tank...filled w/ 93 octane

Just a really good tune...

Before the cam my car didnt have a tune on it, so it ran pig rich...and I got horrible mileage in the city anyways, but OK mileage hwy..

The day I got tuned, I jumped in my car and logged something like 420 miles off a tank on a trip from Houston, TX to McAllen, TX plus a little driving around once I got there...

I actually got better hwy miles after the cam once it was tuned...we tuned it for like 5 hours if I remember correctly...mostly on the highway, too...

Props to GM & good tuners!

All with pushrods and 16 valves Gotta love GM man
