TSP clear lid installed (pics)

I installed the TSP clear lid yesterday! The most time-consuming part was swapping the IAT sensor over. Save yourself the hassle and order a new sensor/grommet for $10 with your lids when you get them. Quality of the lid was acceptable, but not great. There were a couple of imperfections on the top part of the lid, one of which included a blob of epoxy with a black fleck of something in it. I was able to scrape most of it away and clean the epoxy off so it wasn't as noticeable. The area near the MAF neck of the lid where the two pieces are epoxied together could have been better. They were sealed together, but the epoxy job wasn't neatly done. Overall fit was great with a Holley Powershot filter though!

It definitely seems like it pulls harder, but I'm not sure how much of it is due to the sound of the air being sucked in now. It was quiet before, but it is MUCH louder now! I know it is pulling harder, but man that sound is a MAJOR difference! It will actually spin the tires pretty good in 2nd gear if I hit it at the right RPM and flash the stall converter hard enough. Some of that is the lid, some of it is the cold weather we are having. Here are pics of the lid installed:

when I tested my lid, it was louder and that was something I didnt like..

The power is not much tho.. so ya have to keep the colder weather in perspective.. a lid will only get ya about 6-8rwhp.. (get rid of the filter for more power) and since you have the stall you will probably feel alot more "power" from the stall.

clean looking tho..

I recently bought the plain black TSP lid and am having trouble getting it to fit right. The four tabs on the back part of the lid all won't go in. When I put the right 2 tabs in the 2 left tabs don't fit in and vice versa. I have heard a lot of great things about TSP and that's one reason I went with them. This is getting frustrating though. If I can't figure out why this is happenning soon then I may have to swap them out. How was your install? Was it pretty smooth and step by step?

How long did it take TSP to ship out from when you ordered?

I have that same problem with the lid I got from tbyrnemotorsports.com. I could get them in but could only get one clasp to close at a time. I was told to cut the bellows and it should fit better. Now I just gotta get around to doing it.

It took 10 days, but they forgot to include my K&N air filter, so I am waiting on that now.

Jilly do you have the SLP smooth bellow? That's what I have and I had thought that maybe I needed to trim it but I would think that the aftermarket lid should fit because there was no difference when I was putting on my bellow and was using the stock lid. I dunno, maybe I just need to shove that lid on there harder?

No I don't...but maybe I should get one? Then again, maybe not if it's not helping you any.

I've pushed and pushed and pushed on my lid to get it in there and still only one clasp will stay shut. As soon as I start my car though, the other one will come off.

For you people that the lid didn't fit check and see if the bottom of the lid is hitting the plastic shroud above the radiator, tha happend to me and the lid didn't seal in the back of the lid, I also had a few more issues so I called them and they sent me a new one with no ??? asked .and it was at my door in less than a week!!!!! And for those people who say it's louder, well you just need a good cat-back exahust I didn't really notice much pull below 110 but around that 110 mark it pulls MUCH harder (I did FRA also)Enjoy the mods!!!! BTW it does look very clean

Mine is only louder when I am getting on it above around 3k RPM, other than that it sounds like the stocker.

I've had the stall since I bought the car 6 months ago, so I was already used to the way that it felt in the cold air before the lid was installed. The lid was the only mod done at the time.

My install was really straight forward, I didn't have any real problems... it was just a small PITA to get the IAT sensor out of the stock lid.

When I was putting the new lid back on the car, it was a tight fit to get the four tabs into their slots but I didn't have any problems with it. I just started the two tabs on one side, then pushed down on the back of the lid to compress the air filter gasket along the back, and the other two slid right in. It was a really tight seal when I went to try to close the two clamps on the front though. In fact, I tried to clamp them once and thought it felt too tight so I went back around the edges of the lid to make sure it was seated right and kind of moved it around a little bit to make sure. After that, I just clamped both sides down and it fits really tight! It's definitely sealed.
