Trouble Codes. Bad cat?

Got 2 codes yesterday.

P1416 - Airs system Bank 2

P0161 - 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 2, Sensor 2 malfunction.

Is this a bad cat?

Doubt it is a bad cat. The first code is AIR pump related. It is set when the PCM cycles the AIR pump and doesn't see a corresponding change in the 02 sensor on that side of the engine. It could be as a result of a bad check valve or a damaged hose on that side. As for the 02 sensor code, try swapping the front sensors from side to side and see if the code follows. If it does, you probably have a bad sensor. If not, then possibly there is a wiring issue involved.

Ok, thanks. I cleared the codes to see if they come back. If/when they do, ill try swapping the sensors to see if thats the culprit.

You can get that code quite frequently when you add longtube headers to the mix.... I didn't see them on your mod list, but if you have a different Y-pipe, it might affect that as well. It deals with the o2 sensor not heating up correctly due to a an o2 wire extension or something else of that sort, but isn't an issue at all. Every LT header car I've seen has that code and it is usually disabled by the dyno tuner.

No LTs. Not yet anyway. have to fix the beater car first. boo. It doesnt effect performance at all. And im putting LT's on soon with rear o2 sims, so that will take care of it anyway.

The 02 sims will take care of the rear 02 sensors, but not the front ones, which that code is in relation to.

Thansk for the catch. In that case, throw on the sims or get some PCM tuning and call it a day.
