Hi I drive a 99 TA M6 and have noticed that in the 2400-3000 RPM range I can hear a knocking sound, not engine knock but it sounds sort of like someone is knocking on a door very rapidly. It is not that loud but still quite audible. The padding in the shifter is removed so I hear a lot of drivetrain noise, is this just part of it or something else?

Did you check your tranny mount??? Any mods to the car (ie catback exhaust) that might be causing the noise??

 

Yeah mods are:

Fast Toys Ram Air
LS1 Motorsports Lid
K&N Air Filter
Mufflex 4" Catback



But done by the previous owner. I will check the tranny mount when I get home tomorrow or Tuesday morning sometime.
