suuuure you do j/k People usually go with the SLP loudmouth, but the best exhaust I've heard is the GMMG http://www.gmmginc.net They run $700 though

Cool

Welcome to the board!

Very loaded question. You will get answers from one end of the spectrum to the other. Each choice has it pros and cons, depending on what you are looking for.

Best way to make up your mind would be to hear some of them in person so you know what they sound like.

With that said, my suggestion is Hooker: nice low rumble at idle, pretty loud @ WOT and not obnoxious at cruising speeds.

And pretty inexpensive even.

Some people don't like the tips on it and say they rust quite quickly, but they can always be changed.

Or... You can always put a cutout w/electric plate and keep your existing exhaust for the best of both worlds. Just like I have done.

Later!

Definitely check out the different sounds in person to see which one you like best. The louder mufflers might drive you crazy after a while with all the in cabin noise. My friend has the flowmaster 80 series and that sucker has a mean sound to it. I can actually feel the sound through my body when i'm standing beside his car.

Go with my set up.
Off-road y-pipe into a Loudmouth with a Dynomax bullet with resonator tips.
It's so loud that if the car is in the garage where it's butt is pointed at the neighbors house (over a 100' away) and I start it up the neighbor lady jumps up off her couch

Seriously though, you have to go to a meet or the track and listen. When you find one that sounds good to you get one of those. You can talk and listen to sound clips and your still not going to know what it sounds like for real.

I would get gmmg if money was not an issue. Other wise I highly recommend Dynomouth and this is why:

1) your stock pipes are 2.75" mandrel pressed stainless steel. Most cat backs are 3" mandrel pressed stainless steel. The extra .25" does help but not enough IMHO to make it a big issue so the pipes you have are fine. What you need is to get a better flowing and better sounding muffler.

2) HP gains are sweet. Basically what I remember from hours of eye bleeding research was the stock muffler flows something like 200 cmf, Flowmaster flows around 380cmf, mid priced catbacks flow around 600-800 cmf and good catbacks like borla/corsca flow around 1000 cmf. Then you have magnaflow which if I remember right was 1800 cmf. SLP loudmouth and Dynomouth flow a whopping 2200 cmf. This should translate to gaining 10-13 RWHP with loudmouth or dynomouth vs 5-8 RWHP with most of the others.

Loudmouth is an awesome system but it gets too loud without cats. Add headers and you'll be screaming to any passengers at highway speeds so they can hear you. If you plan to not get headers and keep cats then this is an awesome one to invest in if you like loud.

3) Cost is AWESOME. You buy a 12" dynomax bullet race muffler (if you are using cats) or a 18" bullet race muffler (if you are catless). This should cost about $50 shipped. Then you bring it to an exhaust shop in your area who will rip out the old muffler and fab a pipe in it's place just to keep the dual out continuity. Then they will weld the bullet muffler in the I-pipe just behind the rear axel. This should run you $100.00 for parts/labor fees at the shop.

So $150.00 total. If you are like me then you may want to buy a new set of tips for a different look. I got a nice pair of 3" stainless steel dual/dual tips from fasttoys.net that cost me $100.00 shipped. So mine cost me $250 but that was still cheaper then a loudmouth and I got a new look. If you like your stock tips then $150 is all it costs.

3). Sound. It sounds awesome! It's deep at idle (definately tell it's louder then stock), it's loud at acceleration and it absolutely screams at WOT. You will turn a few heads when you get on it hard but you won't draw any cops attention when you are not hitting it hard. Plus no rasp or drone (with cats at least). I can talk to a passenger at 2000 rpm's using a normal tone of voice.

If I had a lot of dollars I would have gotten a gmmg or borla but since I didn't I got the dynomouth setup and I LOVE it. Best $250 I have ever spent.

It is a little on the loud side but not like the loudmouth and it's fine with headers. Using HF cats make a world of difference. If you were looking for a meaner then stock sound but still wanna be on the quiet side then slp dual/dual is the best choice HP wise. Hooker is the best choice pricetag wise.

Good Luck with whatever you get.

I'm also looking for a new exhaust after being rear-ended. Does any one know where I can hear the GMMG? I've listened to several exhausts including: slp loudmouth, Dynomouth, Corsa, Magna Flow, and I own BORLA (a little to tame for my taste), but I've never heard GMMG. Anybody?

Go GMMG if you don't mind spending the cash. Best exhaust i have heard from personal experience, also check sig for hp gains. other than that from what i have heard I would go with the Dynomouth set up, get in touch with ratio411 he has it and nice sound clips as well.

by the way welcome to the board!

i have Spintech on my car and it sounds pretty tight. the best way i can describe it is a higher pitched GMMG. it sounds about the same but without as much throat in the lower RPM's. I have sound clips but the server they were on isnt there anymore. I can send them to you if you PM me.
