Tranny Noise

I have an A4 99 Camaro SS ( as sited in sig) ... whenever I put it in reverse I always get a high pitched noise like there is metal hitting metal ... can someone describe to me what this is? Or do I need to elaborate on it more...

to desribe it more ...its more like a metal creaking (sp?) noise...

My car does the same thing, it makes a "tink" when it goes in reverse.

I took it to a VERY reputable trans. shop in my area and the owner says that when GM welds the aluminum driveshafts and seals the ends with Teflon, more often than not, pieces of aluminum get trapped inside the hollow driveshaft forever. When the driveshaft moves, the metal pieces inside move around and that's what's causing the sound you're hearing, nothing to worry about and I've met other LS1 owners whose cars do the same thing.

Thanks! I had no idea what was causing that and/if it could be bad to the transmission or not.
