Post Traction Control

What are the pros and cons of the traction control option on the Camaro? Anyone that has it, have you had any trouble with it?

I did not buy one Camaro because it did not have it !!

My T/A & the SS both had/have it - at least once on the SS it kept me from doing a slide around a corner - well, an unintentional slide !!

As you can guess, I am very much "PRO" T/C.

If you don't like it, you can always turn it off , or convert it to default to off automatically.

And, as far as I know, if it breaks it causes no trouble other than perhaps an annoying trouble light on the dash.

I didn't have it on my '97 LT1, but there were times(in the rain) when I really wished I did. On my LS1 I ordered it with ASR. It has saved me a few times already. You just have to remember to turn it off when you race. I now have an SLP ASR reverser. Now I can turn it on when I need it.

The only draw back is the money you spend for it and I know on the LT1's you had to relocate it if you wanted to install a supercharger, not sure if that's true on the LS1.

well it was raining today and with an ls1 you can easily spin tires at 1500 rpm so it wen't off like 10 times today on the way home, it's good but if there was a f-bod that i really wanted i wouldn't turn it down just because it didn't have it.

I've tried mine on and off in different weather conditions, and I've found that I prefer to just turn it off all the time. In snow/ice it's worthless, and in the rain I just drive like a sane person and the TC isn't really necessary. But if you're the type to do thingss nailing the gas making a left turn, then traction control may be for you.

It's just one of those things that some people will like and others won't though.

I too drive with the ASR off. I hate it. It will bog the engine to the point of stalling when there is no traction (Ice/Snow). If it were less obtrusive, it may be ok, but it is a primitive system that is either on or off.

I can think of other places to put $450.

I've got it, and although I must say, if you drive like a sane person, you don't usually need it...but there are times when you want it, and it makes your drive much safer when you have it!

It's saved my butt a time or two from looking like an *** and sliding around at an intersection.

It slows you down because once its activated its almost like someone pushing the gas pedal against your foot....the more your wheel spin and the harder you push the more you go nowhere. Its because the engine pulls timing once its activated. Pulled timing equals less power.

I think its too "touchy". It seems like its always kicking in when there is only slight spin. Personally, I would rather it just let go a little bit without the accompanying "bog" down that comes after. I turn mine off quite often

No problem. Mine is always off and in my opinion uneeded, if you feel or hear a little wheel spin......take you foot off the pedal.

Okay, I totally recant what I just said. Im not going to give all the details but it involves an intersection, rain, a little excessive throttle, lots of sliding, a curb and lots of grass (the kind you plant in public intersections). Im still keeping that ASR off when its dry though.
