traction button in 98 LS1 Z28? is that true?

before about 2 months i raced a 98 A4 LS1 Z28 and my friend noticed that the guy in the LS1 pressed a button while racing after the race we asked him what was that button he said it is for traction and all 98 LS1 Z28's have this button from the factory? is that true? any other year model LS1 have this button? OR was that a Nitrous button? which i'm suspecting.

Not all '98's had it, but the traction control is on the dash.

Traction control was an option on all LS1 F-bodies, and you will want to turn it off for racing.

So what you're saying is that he really stomped you huh? It should have at least been close unless you went high speed. Out of the hole my brother's LT1 stands pretty close and we're both stock. So if he really creamed you, he either has some serious mods or maybe he did have nitrous. Especially if you run as fast as GTech says you do. You must not be stock either. There are other buttons that can be used that are hidden to the untrained eye. The tubing in the engine bay is a lot harder to hide.

actualy we raced from a dead stop for 1000 meters on a highway. out of the hole he was a head of me by 2 car lenghts i had serious traction problem, i have totaly stock suspension, street 245/50 ZR 16" Kumho tires and i have worn out torque arm bushing. anyway as i said out of the hole he was a head of me by 2 car lenghts by the 600 meters mark i passed him like he was riding a bicycle. i raced a holden commodre SS LS1 and i killed him instantly of the line disregarding my traction problem and that holden commodore SS is only heavier tha an LS1 Z28 by about 220 lb and that LS1 Z28 that i raced told me he was stock which i dought becuase i couldn't catch him until the 600 meters mark.

Why is such a surprise about a TCS button? Don't all F-bodies with traction control have the TCS button in the same spot as the 98's?

note that i have stock stall converter and stock 3.23 gears or i should be in the low 12's to high 11's. that what happened out of the hole he was a head of me by 2 cars ( no traction) by the 600 meters mark i passed him. if you don't want to beleive that, it is up to you.

ok get your $hit straight an auto would have made u win off the line and not after 600 meters...if he had 2 cars on you he would have kept the lead up......autos are quicker off the line....

Are you saying that an LT1 beat an Ls1 on the top end? If u think this you are insane considering the Ls1 is one of the best top end motors ever made. These things dont come alive until 3rd gear and would put any stock Lt1 in the dust. I personally dont think any stock lt1 has a chance against any stock ls1
