TR224 112LSA cam w/ stock heads/manifolds
TR224 112LSA cam w/ stock heads/manifolds
I'd like to get this cam soon, along w/ the whole cam package from Thunder Racing. I still have stock heads and no headers yet (gonna get Hooker LT's eventually, and stage 2 heads in the further future). I know the cam won't perform to it's max potential w/out those items, but it wont HURT anything will it? Of course I'll get it tuned and all. Also, it doesn't recommend the use of 1.8 rockers. What's the stock rocker ratio? What rockers should I use? ... or are stock ones ok? I'd just like to go ahead and get the cam now, but I don't know if that cam will do actual DAMAGE to anything w/ stock heads and all.
EDIT: Also, how streetable is this cam? Gimme some opinions on it and it's streetability. (A4 btw)

The most knowledgable guy you can talk to is Trevor from Texas Speed and Performance..you can find him at LS1tech.com..he's a sponser...he has the 224R kit on sale with valvetrain for 723.00 plus shipping...but to be perfectly honest with ya, get headers first then cam..that's just my opinion...good luck
Thunder Racing's cam package is only like $600
hmm
I still wanna know about the rocker ratios though, hehe. I know I SHOULD get headers first, but I've been wanting a damn cam for so long lol. I gotta have it! I'll get the headers soon after though

The stocker 's are 1.7...stick with that...the stocker's are fine...what's included with the cam kit from Thunder? You will need to upgrade your valvetrain if you choose to go with a med cam...

I forget what all is included... and either their web page is down now, or Road Runner's cable is being sh*tty (which is probably the case since they've been messin w/ it the past 2 days) cuz I can't get on their site right now. I'll tell ya tomorrow

make sure you get springs, retainers and pushrods...if our gonna do it do it right and safe...
- Your Choice of Thunder Racing Custom Grind Camshaft
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Comp Cams 772 Titanium Retainers ($100 Additional)
- Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400)
- Cam Swap Gasket Kit (Specify Year of Car
That's what all the package comes with, and yes I'm gonna get the titanium retainers.
So stock rockers will be fine w/ this cam?

The stock rocker arms will be fine, were lucky...LT! guys are stuck with 1.6
...it seems though they are one step behind
...anyway, good luck on the swap, I just did mine last week and it was pretty simple other than doing the spring swap without the an air compresser we had to make sure we were at TDC...good luck man
