Torque Converter install?

Anyone know of an install guide for a torque convertor? How complicated is the install really? I know you have to drop the tranny. I'm just asking cause I got my Vig 3200, but I'm a tad short on cash to pay ~$200 to get it installed for now. I've never dropped a tranny before, so I'm not sure what's involved. If anyone has a guide with pics and all I'd appreciate it.

..a 97 LT1 and an LS1 install is different guys...trust me I did both and very much different...the LS1 top main bolts are a pain in ***...and you have to put the TC on the tranny then the tranny with the TC on the fly wheel...the hardest part is that you have to hand turn the motor to rotate the flywheel to tighten the bolts...also, do you have proper TC bolts? the stock one's won't work on your aftermarket one..there to long...any questions just pm me...I can pretty much guide you through it..

Good luck..and make sure you have lots of friends helping...also make sure you fill the TC with tranny oil.

Other than the top bolt and the different torque converter bolts it seems quite similar.

..have you don't both install's? Well I have and trust me it the same concept like any other TC but LT1's and LS1's are slightly different...the biggest thing is in an LT1 the 4L60E has a plastic lower main so you can get the TC bolts with ease....like I said with an LS1 you have to hand turn the motor and tighten the bolts through where the starter goes...you have about 4 inches to play with...

Ive done this install on a LT1 lying on my back in the driveway and it took 8 hrs to do (first timer)
First and foremost you have to get the car high enough and small jackstands wont cut it.
I am about to have a 2800 stall put in my LS1 and I will not attempt it from the driveway.Im getting my bud to lend me his lift at the shop and help me on this one.
Life is also alot easier with a tranny jack too.
If you are planning this expedition in your driveway without the proper tools or knowledgable help then God be with you.

After said and done you will wish you would have saved for the $200 install. You may want to shop around because I know 3 people right now that will do it locally in Charlotte for $150.

Later
Mike

With the right tools and jacks... they are no sweat... In a driveway trying to manipulate it by hand with no air.... have a blast. It isn't all that fun. Like he said, a shop will do it for 100-200. So unless your just in a big hurry and not worried about being out of a car if somthing goes wrong, have at it. I will tell you, it will give you a
