Question Tires??

What are the largest size tires I can get for my rims?
I have the standard 16" 5 spoke rims that come on the '98 Z28s.
I have currently 245/45's on them now. How big can I actually go? 275's? 305's??

Anyone know, or has anyone done this???
Thanks in advance.

I would not go larger than 255.

above a 255 is not recommended nor advised. certainly not a 305 or even a 275...its just not a good idea. just like the old putting 315's on a 9.5'' wheel...not a good idea. just run some nitto's in the 245 size and youll hook up better than any street tire.

Question Suggestions?

alrighty then.
Other than drag radials, does anyone have good suggestions on what make?? I would like a moderate performance tire but not excessively pricey. $200 or so per tire.
Sorry to sound so helpless, but I haven't bought tires in about 4 years! So I appreciate all the help!

I really like the Kumho Ecsta 712 Supras. I've never owned a set but have heard VERY good things about them. I will be buying those when my F1's wear out.

They come in 2 sizes I would recommend depending on your definition of "How big can I actually go?".

245/45/16 is the widest of the two by about 1/2". $90
245/50/16 is the tallest of the two by about 1". $85

There is also a 255/50/16 that is juat a hair wider and 1/2" taller than each of the above. I'm not sure if you'll have any clearance problems but it should fit okay too depending on what suspension mods you have. $89

Don't let the price fool you. These are great tires. Just ask around.
