time to buy new tires

After almost 20000 miles on my SUMITOMO 275/40/17 tires it's almost time now to get new rubber.... they'll last for 4-5000 more miles so there's some time left to think about possible sizes...
The 275 is too wide in the front (road imperfections, sensitive steering...) so I'm going to get some 245/45...
For the rear I'm thinking about 285/40s Is there a difference visable compared to the 275/40 or is it just not worth the extra money ??? Any pictures ???
The other size I'm having in mind is 255/50/17 (for the rear only) .... I've seen only one picture so far and they look pretty wide, actually just as wide as my 275s... Does anybody have this tire combination on a Camaro ???

I've got 21K on the original Good Year F1's and I am going with the BF Goodrich G Force KD's since its only driven in dry weather conditions.

I'm most likely getting the 245/45 and 285/40 combo ,BF Goodrich (not too overpriced) ... any experience with these tires/this size-combo ??
However, the 255/50s are still interessting for the rear but it doesn't seem to be a common size on a 17" rim...wonder why ??? Any idea ??
