From what I understand the cam on my throttlebody for the gas throttle cable(2000' Formula) takes more pedal travel to reach WOT, can this easily swapped with a previous year throttle cam ?

 

i've never heard of this....where did you get the info?

and what would be the advantage? less travel for the gas pedel to go to wot? who cares!

 

The 98-99 throttle cams open the throttle faster. On the 2000 + GM slowed the initial opening speed of the throttle blade to increase gas milage.

Ford did the same thing on the 94-95 GT Mustangs for the same reason.

Think of it as Throttle Body to accelerator pedal ratio . Example, 98-99 gas pedal pushed 1/4 down throttle blade opens 25%. 00-02 pedal pushed 1/4 down throttle blade opens 15%. These are not actual #'s but rather examples. It has to do with the diameter of the throttle cam on the throttle body. The smaller the diameter of the cam, the faster it will open. The shape has some to do with it as well.

It does make a difference, so I care. Then again I am respoing to someone who's best mods are a Lid and a ShiftLight.

Anyone know if the cam can be swapped out or do I have to swap the entire throttlebody?

 

I with the above guy. If I push the pedal to the floor in my 2000 I get WOT. If I push the pedal to the floor in our 98 I get WOT.
Same same.
Is there that much difference in the ratio? Will it make that much difference even to a road racer or autocrosser?
Enlighten us with more than I say so.
