Throttle Body that good?

Hey guys, with all of the mods I have done already, would a 80mm throttle body help me that much? How good is the stock Intake I already have? I know the torque converter took away from the top end of my car, so how much would this help me mid-top range? Will a throttle body help me pull a lot better from 50- even with an auto? Thanks

Re: Throttle Body that good?

A TB won't help, your stock is more than good enough for what you have. As for the intake, it is an LS6 intake.

From what I have read and heard is that stock TB can handle quite a lot of hp over stock, so changing it might not be too beneficial for you.

I'm sure somebody with more insight will correct me if I'm wrong with my conclusions.

Get some tuning done on it, then it will fly.

Don't bother getting a new throttle body unless / until you get a larger cam.

Re: Throttle Body that good?

You have a 75mm mouth on the intake ... putting a 80mm TB in front of it will do you no good.

Re: Throttle Body that good?

if anything I'd recommend a ported stock throttle body. They can handle plenty of power in stock trim, and a ported stock TB will also be good for a bunch of ponies at the rear wheels. Once you start getting upwards of 425-450 rwhp, then it might be time for a higher flowing TB... but all an 80mm will do for you is slow you down, and pedal pressure will be way stiffer on the gas.

I think you may be thinking airlid. THOSE will help. throttlebody isnt going to do anything for you yet.

Re: Throttle Body that good?

The stock TB is good for over 700hp at the tires. Rob R. at QMP did that with a stock TB. I'm over 550hp at the tires with my stock TB. It will just be a waste of money.
